BUILD A TEAM: Did you know that 22 million of the 28 million small businesses in the U.S. have zero employees?
ZERO.
In 2014, when I started my company I did all the work.
ALL OF IT.
I knew I needed help, but I didn’t know where to find it or if I could afford it.
My daughter’s friend from high school stopped by to visit.
I asked him if he wanted to make some extra money turning the camera on and off for at a shoot.
At the time he was working at a restaurant and happily said ‘yes.’
Well, he quit that job a few months after he started working with me.
3 years later he’s still with me, he and my daughter are best friends and he’s even traveled with our family on vacation.
I now have 4 in-house team members and we’re hiring 2 more before the end of the year.
The quality of your people means everything to you and your company’s success.
If you want 1 year of prosperity, grow grain.
If you want 10 years of prosperity, grow trees.
If you want 100 years of prosperity, grow people.
I hire for personality and train for skill. I taught this young man video editing and now he is our chief videographer & editor in the company. He does an amazing job and he’s always searching for ways to do even better.
How did you find your first employee?
